George Crabtree will head new 120-million JCESR center
Congratulations to UIC distinguished professor George Crabtree, who will head the new $120-million Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR). JCESR (pronounced "J-Caesar") will seek to achieve revolutionary advances in battery performance. The research will bring together five Department of Energy national laboratories, five universities and four private firms. "The JCESR award brings top battery scientists and engineers from around the country to tackle a major energy challenge: creating next-generation batteries with many times the energy density at much lower cost within the next five years," said Professor Crabtree, an internationally recognized leader in energy research. More information can be found at this UIC News Article and from the US Department of Energy.
