Fatemeh Khalili-Araghi and collaborators unravel graphene heat-transfer riddle

The work of Professor Fatemeh Khalili-Araghi and collaborators have solved a long-standing puzzle concerning the question of how the boundary between grains of graphene affects heat conductivity. The work is the culmination of a two-year multidisciplinary research collaboration that discovered that heat transfer across a single grain boundary was an order of magnitude lower than expectation and developed computer models that can explain the observations at the atomic level.
