Dirk Morr appointed associate-PI at the Center for Emergent Superconductivity

Professor Dirk Morr has been appointed associate-PI at the Center for Emergent Superconductivity, a DOE-funded Energy Frontier Research Center. The center’s research focuses on understanding the microscopic mechanism underlying unconventional superconductors, with the objective to increase the critical current in they can carry, a crucial step in opening new applications for superconductors in the field of energy transport. To this end, Prof. Morr and Saheli Sarkhar, a graduate student in his group funded by the center, are currently developing a new theoretical framework to understand vortex pinning in the unconventional Pb-based superconductors. The figure shows unconventional dx2-y2-symmetry of the superconducting order parameter in multi-band materials.
