Asrat Demise wins Heyning-Roelli Foundation Scholarship
Congratulations to graduate student Asmamaw Asrat A Demise, who was selected to receive a Heyning-Roelli Foundation scholarship. This significant award will enable Asrat to study abroad at ETH, one of the premier universities in Switzerland.
The UIC Physics department established an exchange agreement with ETH Zurich, the premier technical university in Switzerland. The program is open to Graduate and Undergraduate students who can choose to attend ETH for one semester or one year. Students pay only the UIC tuition and fees and are able to transfer the credits for the classes and research at ETH. Since the start of the program in 2009, 7 UIC students spent at least one semester at ETH, with the corresponding number of ETH students taking classes at UIC. Yearly applications for the program are accepted by March 1st and August 1st, for the Fall and Spring semester respectively.
