EM1.2 Lighting an Electric Lamp with a Match

This is a transformer with a small spark gap. The primary turns are connected to 110 AC. Placing a lit match in the gap ionizes the air and allows the passage of current. A lamp in series with the gap is lit. A spark then appears in the gap. Once the spark is blown out, the lamp dies out. While the transformer is still active, it would be wise not to get too near the spark that will be present in the gap.
