Undergraduate Research

UIC is a Research I institution where students have many opportunities for performing and presenting their own research. The Student Research Forum held every spring is just one example that showcases the research of our students.

Within the Department of Physics, we have a refereed Journal of Undergraduate Research publication that was founded by faculty member Professor Robert Klie where students can publish their own work in the scientific community.

The Physics Department has a “UIContest” scholarship that provides significant funding support for Internships for Physics Majors. Application details are released every fall semester.

Additional internship and research opportunities are available within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences through the LASURI program, and the College of Engineering also has a NSF REU program for interested students.
