Title: Self assembly and organization far from equilibrium
Abstract: Non-equilibrium forces can drive specific and novel pathways to modulate self-assembly and organization. However, unlike the behavior and characteristics of equilibrium systems, where no energy is dissipated, general principles governing fluctuations about a steady state or the steady state itself in far-from-equilibrium conditions are just being discovered. In my talk I will present some recent results that demonstrate how non-equilibrium forces can be used to tune organization in many diverse settings, from self assembly to information processing in biology.
