Title: The chiral spirals phase at finite quark density
Abstract: Recently it has been argued that the phases of inhomogeneous chiral condensates might alter the conventional picture about the chiral restoration in quark matter. I first discuss the mechanism to generate such condensates using examples of the (1+1)-D models with short- and long-range interactions. Then I discuss the (3+1)-D models at large density and large Nc, where the techniques developed in the (1+1)-D work better for longer-range interactions. How to construct the multiple-directional non-uniform condensates is discussed, and the obstacles are identified. Finally I will point out the theoretical challenges at low density.
