Title: Understanding and predicting materials for energy:
Insights from quantum simulations
Abstract: The understanding and prediction of fundamental properties of solids and molecules from the basic equations of quantum mechanics is an increasingly important component in the design of materials for energy applications. We will discuss some progress in predicting materials for solar and thermal energy conversion, as well as current theoretical and computational challenges in the field of quantum simulations. In particular, we will address the problem of building much needed tighter connections between computational and laboratory experiments.
