John Van Dyke and Dirk Morr publish new paper in PNAS on superconductivity

Graduate student John Van Dyke, his advisor professor Dirk Morr, and collaborators have published a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAOS) entitled "Direct evidence for a magnetic f-electron-mediated pairing mechanism of heavy-fermion superconductivity in CeCoIn5".  Their work discovered two crucial insights into the complex electronic structure of CeCoIn5: the relation between the momentum and energy of electrons moving through the material, and the ‘quantum glue’ that binds the electrons into a Cooper pair. For additional details on the significance of the work please see this article in UIC News on July 28, 2014.
